While things may vary from year to year, a typical day at camp looks like this:
8-9am - Breakfast
9am-9:15am - Overview of the day, announcements, birthday celebrations, etc
9:15am-9:45am - Cabin clean up (plus a chance for kids who aren't fully awake to realize they put on mismatched socks, apply sunscreen, etc)
9:45-10:45am - Team Games (for Peer Leaders, they'll be participating in their programming during this time instead)
11am-11:45am - Afternoon educational programming - last year we talked about the Search For Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence, wrote ransom letters to our representatives (AKA we cut out words from recycled paper products to assemble letters about things important to us; no actual ransom letters were sent to anyone!), and we talked about fake news and deep fakes
12-12:45pm - Lunch
1pm-2pm - Swimming or Quiet Time for younger campers; down time for older campers
2:20pm-3:40pm - Swimming or Quiet Time for older campers; down time for younger campers
4-4:45pm - Elective Block 1, during which campers have choice of an arts and crafts activity, a sports activity, a science-y or nature-y activity, or a just fun activity
5-5:45pm - Elective Block 2 - all the same activities as during block 1 are offered again, so they can continue with an activity they're enjoying or go try out something else
6-7pm - Dinner time
8-9:30pm - After dinner each night we have a different activity. One night that's a movie night, another it's a carnival, another it's a talent show.
9:40pm - Bed time
We aim to make the process of getting ready for camp as simple as possible, but know there is always a mild dread with scheduling doctors appointments. If your camper has a physical from school / other camps already completed, you may use that in lieu of our form provided it answers to their general fitness for an outdoor camp in the heat. The Virginia school physical and health history is also acceptable for several things (e.g. vaccination history). Otherwise, you may use our old form available here. Please upload this to UltraCamp - Document Center as a single PDF file rather than emailing it, but reach out if you have questions.
At present, Camp Quest Chesapeake requires that all campers and volunteers be vaccinated for COVID-19 and other common communicable diseases. Medical exemptions may be made for individuals who have an allergy or previous allergic reaction to vaccines – making it all the more important that those at camp who can receive a vaccine do so.

Packing List
We typically do not have special materials you need to pack for camp, but here is a recommended packing list for any camp. Keep in mind the temperature outside and pack extra clothes, shoes, and two towels!
Camp Info
Our campsite for 2024 is located in Harford County, Maryland, approximately 1.5-2 hours from Washington, DC. Arrival and pickup times, and any other pertinent information for camp, will be sent via email to registered campers in the weeks leading up to camp.
Coordination of sharing rides to and from camp is not handled by CQC directly, but is often coordinated via the volunteer-run Facebook group, Camp Quest Chesapeake Families.
